Steve Harris began 2022 with a focus on his new gospel album, Angel Band. It’s early in the year, but we are proud to announce today that an original composition from that album, In the Bulrushes, has earned a bronze medal in this year’s Global Music Awards competition.
In the Bulrushes tells the story of baby Moses’ miraculous survival from an Egyptian pogrom to eventually lead the Jewish people to freedom and the promised land. The theme of the song is that “God had a plan for Moses, and He’s got a plan for me.” The music is done in a mellow bluegrass style reminiscent of Garrison Keillor’s long-running weekly NPR broadcast, A Prairie Home Companion.
“The message in this song resonates with me, and I hope it does with listeners,” Harris said. “We may not always see it clearly, but God has a plan for our lives.”
Established in 2011, California-based Global Music Awards is a well-known international music competition that celebrates independent musicians. Global Music Awards is widely recognized by industry insiders as giving legitimacy to highly talented artists.
Harris is a multi-award-winning singer-songwriter. His compositions began to receive recognition in 2021, with several winning awards in competitions around the world.
